The Headquarters at Seaport District San Diego, California
SCOPE OF WORK
“The Headquarters at Seaport District”, formerly known as The Old Police Headquarters, consists of five existing buildings set around an interior courtyard. These existing buildings were refurbished to accommodate over 105,000-square-feet of retail, dining and entertainment space.
This renovation project preserved and transformed a nationally recognized historical building into a modern destination in San Diego’s Seaport District. Special care was taken to maintain aspects of the original buildings, including windows, doors, tiles and fixtures will be restored and reused in the property renovation.
VALUE DELIVERED
Dynalectric provided design build services for this project. All work was completed within the 12 month schedule and remained in budget. This build also included an extensive light fixture selection assistance to bring the package within a buildable budget.
SOLUTIONS
The challenge of the project was to incorporate modern systems into a facility built 76 years ago and maintain the original aesthetics.
BACKGROUND
Built in 1938 and listed on The National Register of Historic Places, this property served as the headquarters for the San Diego Police Department until 1987. The managing member of Seaport Village Operating Co., Terramar Retail Centers, holds a 40-year lease with the Port of San Diego on the Old Police Headquarters site and initiated this revitalization project.
