San Diego Mesa College
Math & Science Building SAN DIEGO, CA
VALUE DELIVERED
Dynalectric provided design build services for this project. 3-D BIM and total station (surveying tool that provides GPS location within the project for dimensionally sensitive installations) were used throughout the construction process.
SCOPE OF SERVICES
The new four-story San Diego Mesa College Math & Science building is a 180,000 s.f. design build project. It consists of four floors of classrooms, laboratory space, and offices for the biology, chemistry, mathematics, and physical science departments, as well as several faculty/student interaction areas. The building includes numerous sustainable features, including: optimization of natural daylight; utilization of high-performance, low “E” glazing (resulting in reduced energy usage); and the use of cool-roof material, which reflects unwanted energy to reduce the amount of energy consumed. Dynalectric’s scope of work included: complete electrical systems, security, fire alarm, high-voltage and communications campus loop, audio and video infrastructure, intrusion detection, and campus-wide wireless clock system. This facility was constructed with LEED Silver standards.
SOLUTIONS
This project jobsite was located on an occupied, operating campus area. Special planning was required to mitigate construction impacts on the students, visitors, faculty and staff—as well as nearby community neighbors.
