SCOPE OF WORK
The new Southwest Fisheries Science Center (SWFSC) Laboratory was constructed as part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) facility in San Diego. This 287,000-square-foot facility contains an experimental aquarium, a large animal necropsy lab, a specimen processing lab, a photogrammetry lab, an ichthyoplankton lab, genetic labs, physiology labs, oceanographic labs, specimen archives, electronic workshops and a large tank for testing new sampling technologies, plus a library, conference rooms and office space for up to 300 scientists and support staff.

BACKGROUND
NOAA is an international leader on scientific and environmental matters with roots back to 1807. This new facility will be used to study and survey fishery resources and ecosystems for the National Maritime Fisheries Service.
