Manchester Grand Hyatt, SAN DIEGO, CA

SCOPE OF WORK

This addition of a new tower makes the Manchester Grand Hyatt on San Diego Bay one of the largest and tallest waterfront hotels on the west coast.

Located on 3.29 acres adjacent to Seaport Village and west of the existing hotel, the 34-story tower expansion features 750 additional guest rooms, a central lobby, 30,000-square-foot ballroom, and 34,000-square-foot exhibit hall.

Complementing the existing tower, the facade of the addition incorporates a limestone-colored exterior finish system, accented by green glass in the curtain wall. The main entrance is highlighted by imported dimensional stone from ground level to the vaulted metal roof, which serves as the mid-point of the towers. 

Project challenges were maintaining services to the existing hotel during construction including relocating the existing fireman’s control room to the new tower, integrating the property management and point of sale systems, creating a temporary hotel lobby.
