San Diego Zoo - Elephant Odyssey, SAN DIEGO, CA

SCOPE OF WORK

Dynalectric San Diego was proud to continue its work with the San Diego Zoological Society on the seven-acre remodel to the World Famous San Diego Zoo.  The Elephant Odyssey features a 2.5-acre habitat for elephants including a 120,000 gallon pool and a state-of-the-art Elephant Management Facility.

The project contains additional exhibits for California Condors, Lions, Jaguars and Tree Sloths. Other elements of the project include merchandise and dining facilities as well as extensive site lighting and support facilities.

The underground featured thousands of feet of medium voltage, low voltage, emergency, communication, audio/visual and security conduits.

Some of the more unique requirements included propane generators, electrified fences, electrified grass and electrified rocks all designed to facilitate the zoo’s unique requirements of animal control. Dynalectric Systems and Service engineered a wireless control system for hoists used inside the elephant enclosure.
