Palomar Chiller Addition, Escondido, California
SCOPE OF WORK
This is a prototype project for GE designed to improve the efficiency of their turbines. Specifically, the installation of a new chiller plant of 9,600 tons to feed chilled water to pre-cool the inlet air intakes for the existing GE turbines at an existing 500MW merchant power plant in Escondido. Our scope includes the complete installation, testing and commissioning of all electrical and instrumentation and control systems. The Electrical scope included modifications to the existing 4160 KV distribution, installation of harmonics filters, variable frequency drives and power transformers in addition to all the oversized equipment that would normally be associated with a Chiller plant.
